Watching the Market Before the Reports Show It

The Power Index doesn’t track sales. It tracks presentation behavior.
Across the Steel Cod platform, products are actively being presented to customers every day inside real showroom conversations. Those moments leave signals.
When those signals are aggregated across the platform, patterns start to appear.
You can see where product attention is concentrating. You can see which platforms are showing up in conversations more often. You can see when categories start heating up — and when they quietly begin cooling off.
None of this replaces traditional reporting. But it gives you a view into what the sales floor is starting to do before those shifts appear in the numbers.

Exploring the Market
Inside Steel Cod Analytics, manufacturers are greeted with a dashboard showing activity across several major appliance categories. From there, the Power Index allows you to start exploring the market in more detail.
You can examine activity by timeframe — week, month, or quarter — including comparisons against the same periods from the previous year. You can drill into specific categories and subcategories to see where product attention is concentrating. You can view how luxury, affordable luxury, and mass premium platforms are appearing in showroom conversations.
You can also explore activity geographically, looking across the United States and Canada or isolating regional shifts across East, Central, and West markets.
It’s not a complicated tool. It simply allows you to see where product attention is moving.
Understanding the Rankings
Within each category, the Power Index ranks the models appearing most frequently in showroom presentations.
Each product receives a Power Rating, which represents how often that model appeared in active customer conversations during the selected timeframe.
From there, the platform calculates rank within the category, percentile position, and share of overall presentation activity.
In other words, you can see which products are showing up most often in real showroom discussions — and how that attention changes over time.
Built for Market Insight
One thing was extremely important when building the Power Index: protecting the retail channel.
All retailer activity inside the system is aggregated, anonymized, and market-level only. There is no retailer exposure, no store rankings, and no individual sales data. Retailers remain completely anonymous.
At the same time, manufacturers can see how attention distributes across the entire category — not just their own products.
Understanding how your product performs is useful. Understanding how the market is behaving around it is where the real insight begins.
Why This Matters
Sales reports show what customers bought.
The Power Index shows what customers were seriously considering.
Those signals tend to appear earlier. And in a category where floor placement, product launches, and inventory exposure all influence performance, seeing those shifts sooner changes how decisions get made.
Because in this industry, the showroom floor usually moves first.
The numbers simply follow.
